HAIR TRANSPLANT · FREE TOOL

How many grafts for your hair transplant?

Click the areas that concern you, say how much hair is left, and see a range of grafts and hairs straight away. Then compare the starting prices of each technique at our partner clinics.

A planning example, not a diagnosis. Areas, densities and hair mixes are illustrative assumptions pending clinical validation. The diagram does not measure your scalp or determine transplant eligibility.

Numbers 1–7 match the drawing and the result breakdown. Parts bearing the same number form a single zone and are counted only once.

02How much hair is present?

A common setting for all zones; changing it reapplies this coverage everywhere. Refine individual zones below afterwards. Retained densities are assumptions.

STARTING PRICES

How much does a hair transplant cost?

Lowest prices at our partner clinics for each technique. The final price depends on the number of grafts and on the clinic: some charge a package, others per graft. It is confirmed in your quote.

01 / UNDERSTAND

Grafts ≠ hairs

A graft is modelled as one follicular unit (FU). Single-hair units form the frontal strip; units with more hairs increase the hair total behind it. The real mix depends on the donor area.

02 / PRESERVE

A limited donor supply

A large area can generate a high theoretical graft requirement. This does not mean enough grafts can be safely harvested. A doctor must assess supply, priorities and long-term hair loss.

03 / PERSONALISE

Medical assessment matters

Real area, retained density, hair characteristics, the cause of loss and medical history must be evaluated. Density alone cannot predict the appearance or suitability of a transplant.

YOUR QUESTIONS

Before you go further

How to read your estimate.

How is the estimate calculated?

For each area: example area × (target FU/cm² minus assumed retained FU/cm²). Negative differences are set to zero. Minimum and maximum values are summed. Frontal areas add 5 FU/cm² to the target. Hair totals use 1 hair per frontal-strip FU and the selected mix elsewhere; they do not include existing hairs.

Why are Norwood VI and VII estimates higher?

These examples model extensive bare areas: 210 and 230 cm². At a uniform 35 FU/cm², these areas alone imply 7,350 and 8,050 FUs. Higher frontal targets raise demand. These are coverage examples, not standard areas for every Norwood stage or a safe harvest recommendation.

Can I choose different coverage for each zone?

Yes. Open “Refine coverage and density by zone”. All parts with the same number share a setting. Changing a common setting reapplies it everywhere. Areas and densities remain assumptions requiring medical confirmation.

Does 40–45 FU/cm² guarantee a good result?

No. These bands express illustrative visual goals, not guaranteed outcomes. Hair thickness, curl, colour contrast, graft growth and donor limitations all affect the result.

Do I need an account to see the result?

No. Results appear immediately without registration or photos. The assessment button opens Hairmed’s existing enquiry form.
